When detergent-based shampoo products are used on dogs, cats and other non-pore animals, the detergent will extract the natural oils desperately needed for a healthy coat. In addition, detergent-based products will penetrate the skin and the ethyl alcohol (ETOH) content may find its way to the fatty tissues and blood stream lending the possibility of toxic reactions. Ethyl alcohol (ETOH) is a potent central nervous system depressant that may be fatal if blood concentrations reach sufficient Levels.Ethyl alcohol (ETOH) may also strip the lipid layer of skin commonly called stripping. therfore compounding problems associated with healthy coat growth.
